Camp Tanako Nomads Project

Well friends, it has been a while since I posted on our blog. Today I am going to post a few pictures from our most recent Nomads project at Tanako Conference Center just outside of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Tanako is a beautiful Conference Center of the United Methodist Church located on Lake Catherine. Our team built a new fence around their raised garden beds, 4 new lifeguard stands for the pool, 7 portable stands to hold coolers, we power washed and painted a staff cabin and the infirmary, and cleaned out and organized the kitchen in the main building, among other things. This was a smaller project with only 4 couples working. The project began on April 1 and ended on April 18.

Most of the trees were just beginning to put out leaves so the Redbud and Dogwood trees stood out against the dreary background. Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of the Dogwoods.

Welcome to Tanako! The staff was great to work with.

One of our first projects was to scrape and paint a staff cottage. You can tell that it had been a little while since it had been painted. Lots of scraping took place.

The two pictures above show the infirmary before we scraped and painted it. We also thoroughly cleaned the inside.

The pictures above show the infirmary after a little TLC!

Sunrise from the outdoor chapel was beautiful!

On every project there are always those that you really connect with. At Tanako that was Ken and Vi Daniel, currently full time RVers, originally from Michigan. Ken has Pat's sense of humor (okay, I can hear my kids groaning!) and Vi has a huge heart and a great listening ear. They were both a lot of fun to work with and we look forward to meeting them in Michigan this summer and working with them on future Nomads projects.
