Mississippi Gulf Coast
We checked into the Gulf Island National Seashore campground on Davis Bayou on Wednesday, April 24. Our good friends Bill and Debbie joined us the following Monday for a few days of hiking, biking, kayaking, and eating! The campground was shady with lots of hiking and biking trails where you could observe lots of wildlife including alligators, turtles, crabs, and birds. Davis Bayou behind the visitor Center. We actually kayaked in the Bayou as well as in the Gulf of Mexico. One of the Nature trails in the park. If you look closely, you will see a small alligator on the log. I didn't have my camera with me so had to use my phone. The Ranger told us that there were alligators up to 12 feet in length in Davis Bayou. Front Beach in Ocean Springs, Mississippi had a beautiful white sand beach and wasn't at all crowded in April. I am sure in July you would have trouble finding a spot.
