Portland

After our trip to Crater Lake we drove to Portland on Friday so that we would be there to take Bill and Debbie back to the airport on Sunday. The four of us spent Saturday exploring Portland. We took the train downtown to the Portland Saturday Market which is huge. Unfortunately, my phone died and Patrick didn't take any pictures of the Market. We had intended to copy Bill's pictures before they left but we didn't get the Saturday pictures so this will be a short post.

The first picture is of the train station where we parked to go into town. When you get to be our age you can't depend on your memory to get you back where you came from! LOL!

The next picture is of a bridge in the Market area. I just thought it was interesting so I had Pat take a picture.

After we looked around at the market for a while we stopped and had a snack before moving on to the Japanese Gardens. It was beautiful and so very peaceful. After we had been there for a little while we noticed that everyone was whispering when they talked, including us. No one tells you to be quiet but the tranquility of the place just causes you to want to maintain the quiet. It was beautiful and a great way to spend a couple of hours in Portland.

At the end of the day, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the patio at Jake's Famous Crawfish. Thanks Bill and Debbie for the treat. The food was delicious, the temps were amazing, the people watching was fun, and the company was fantastic! What a fun 8 days we had! Time to start planning the next trip.

Sunday morning we took Bill and Deb to the airport and then spent the next few days taking care of business like doing laundry, buying groceries, picking up a spare tire for the camper and having the brake wiring checked out and repaired on the truck. It was eerily quiet around the camper without our friends but we got a lot done in preparation for our trip down the Oregon coast and to the Redwood Forest in California. That's all coming up soon!

We did have lunch at Salty's on the Columbia River on Monday or Tuesday one. The views were beautiful and the food was great.

Seafood chowder and an open faced dungeness crab sandwich! Yum!

A fried cod sandwich and a Caesar salad. Patrick said Yum too!

That is pretty much the end of our stay in Portland. From there we headed to the coast, starting at Cannon Beach. That post will come soon. Stay cool!
