Glacier National Park
When we arrived at the North American RV Park & Yurt Village just a few miles from the West Entrance to Glacier National Park, we were informed that the Going to the Sun Road that goes through the Park was only open for about 15 miles (it's a 50 mile road) due to excessive snow this year. That meant that many of the scenic drives and overlooks were inaccessible. So far every National Park we have visited has been amazing, Glacier was our first disappointment. I am sure if the Going to the Sun Road had been open it would have been much more exciting but we found the park to be much less visitor friendly than other National Parks we had visited. There was almost no signage telling you where you were or how to get to trailheads and scenic overlooks. They also had at least half of the turn-outs and scenic overlook parking areas closed for construction which not only meant that you couldn't see those scenic areas but the parking areas that were open were usually full. It was, overall a very frustrating experience. With that said, we did enjoy some absolutely beautiful scenery. Hopefully, I finally have a good enough connection to post some of our pictures. These first several were taken on the way to Glacier NP.
The next several shots were taken at our campground. The North American RV Park & Yurt Village.
The dock going out into Lake McDonald in Glacier. You'll see some close-ups later. The water was amazingly clear.
These next pictures were taken from one of the scenic overlooks. It wasn't marked so I can't really tell you which one it was but it was beautiful!
There were lots of rain clouds all around us as we drove to Glacier. The clouds just sat on top of the mountains.

More shots of beautiful Lake McDonald.
Pictures from out hike up the trail to Rocky Point Overlook.
West Glacier Village is a very cute and quaint place. We stopped there for ice cream and people watching.
I haven't seen one of these in Texas in a long time!
We hiked between 6 and 7 miles up the Avalanche Creek/Lake Trail. It was beautiful.
After 3.1 miles we made it to Avalanche Lake! Now to hike the 3.1 miles back!
When we left North American RV, we moved to West Shore State Park on Flathead Lake which was about 30 minutes from Glacier. Here are a few shots of the trip there and of West Shore.
I am a sucker for old barns!
There were fields and fields of these yellow flowers. Ann Boehmer would call them DYFs (darn yellow flowers).
There was a little family of deer that just roamed the campsite pretty much every day.
That's the end of our Glacier adventure. Since then we have been to three different Montana State Parks. Pictures from those will be coming up soon. Stay cool!
