Well, it has been a busy and exciting week and I am way behind on posting pictures from our adventures. Our internet service was nearly nonexistent in both Monument Valley and in Tusayan, Arizona, just outside of the Grand Canyon. That means I have pictures to post from Monument Valley and from the Grand Canyon and they were both breath taking. So here goes.

The above pictures show the view from our campground without and then with storm clouds but we never got any rain. Next I am going to show you just a few of the pictures I took of the views driving from our campground to the Monument Valley Gift shop, restaurant and hotel.

And now we are finally to the starting point for the Monument Valley tour. Next are a few pictures from the store and then the 17 mile drive through Monument Valley.

The first picture is the outside of the Store. The bottom two were taken through store windows with the view in the background and Kachina dolls on the windowsill.

Okay, that is the end of the 17 mile drive through the Park and the end of the first day. Coming up are pictures of the 3.3 mile hike we took the next day. About 2.7 miles of the hike was easy peasy but the other .6 mile was a killer. The very beginning of the hike was very steep and sandy. On the way down we commented that this would be a lot of fun going back up and boy was it after already hiking 3 miles but the views were incredible and it was cool and comfortable. So here goes. Enjoy the hike!

A couple from Germany took this picture of us in front of some pretty amazing formations. We reciprocated and got some good shots for them to take back to Germany. On our trip so far we have visited with people from France, Germany, Holland, Slovenia, and Italy and heard many other languages being spoken. One of the families had rented an RV and was touring the Western United States during their children's school break. They said that many people from Holland rent RVs so that they can cover more territory in a short time.

These are the last two shots from our hike. The top one, you have seen from many angles because the Wildcat trail that we hiked circled that formation, which is called West Mitten, so we saw it from many perspectives. Next post we are off to the Grand Canyon we experienced many different kinds of weather while we were there from sleet, snow, and freezing rain with temps in the low 30s to fog to sunshine and temps in the mid 70s. Stay tuned.
