Grand Canyon Day 2

What a difference a day makes! On this day we rode the blue shuttle out to the transfer station and got on the Red Shuttle to go to Hermit's Rest. We got off at most stops and then hiked the rim trail between several stops.

Tuesday it was snowy, foggy, and 34 degrees. Wednesday it was sunny and in the high 50s. The views look a little different!

The views just got better and better every time we stepped out onto a new viewing station.

If you look carefully, you can see the Colorado River in the pictures above. You might need to click on the pictures to make them full screen to really see it.

The two pictures above just show a part of the rim trail that we hiked and the view from the edge of that trail.

I told you elk were everywhere. These were grazing about 10 feet from the trail we were hiking. The park rangers tell you to never get closer than 100 feet from the elk because they are wild animals but when they are that close to the trail that drops straight down you don't have much choice. Thursday we have an even closer encounter.

More views of the river from the rim trail.

Pictures from Hermit's Rest, one of the first tourist destinations in Grand Canyon. I believe it was built in the 1800s
