Grand Canyon 3rd and final Day
Well, we went from 34 degrees and wearing 4 layers of clothes on Wednesday to 75 deg and our shirt sleeves. On Friday we rode the blue shuttle bus to Grand Canyon Village and enjoyed visiting several of the earliest hotels and lodges in Grand Canyon, as well as, walking more of the rim and seeing even more fantastic views.
I told you there were elk everywhere! Here they are grazing in Grand Canyon Village and paying no attention to the many tourists who walked by.
These last three pictures show the historic El Tovar Lodge where you can still reserve a room and enjoy sitting on the back porch and enjoying the view below.
The Bright Angel Trail is the most popular path down into the Canyon. You can take it all the way down into the Canyon or you can walk just a couple of miles and then come back. It is a very steep climb back up.
Up close and personal!
The Hope House in Grand Canyon Village.
These last pictures were taken from the Yavapai Point Geology Museum. The pictures don't really do it justice. The views were truly the most spectacular of any that we had seen. There was actually a plaque saying that a team of the best geologists around looked for the best place to view the many different geological formations in the Park and chose Yavapai Point as the best view in the Canyon. I agree.
More spectacular views!
Until the next adventure. Stay safe.
